On the 21st of December 2024, the GHR team embraced the true spirit of the holiday season by bringing joy and laughter to the children of Prithipura Communities, a non-governmental, non-profit organization in Wattala. Prithipura Communities is a sanctuary for 86 children with disabilities, offering a supportive home and care, irrespective of ethnicity, religion, or financial circumstances.
This year, GHR’s Christmas CSR project, titled "A Season of Giving, A Lifetime of Memories," brought together our Chairman, senior management, and the entire GHR team for a day filled with love, inclusion, and celebration. From 9 AM until past noon, the event was alive with the sounds of joy, music, and laughter, creating unforgettable memories for all involved.
The day began with the GHR team decorating the space with festive touches, setting the stage for a heartwarming Christmas celebration. A DJ filled the air with vibrant music, while children excitedly participated in various activities, including games, karaoke, sing-alongs, and dancing. In a wonderful show of collaboration, students and faculty from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Kelaniya joined hands with GHR, hosting several inclusive games that encouraged participation and creativity. Hand painting, dancing games, and more brought smiles to every child’s face. Santa Claus himself was the highlight of the event, spreading cheer and keeping the children entertained throughout the day.
Before lunch, GHR Chairman, Mr. Dasun Wickramarathna, and Director, Ms. Priyanthi Abeyweera, led the gift distribution ceremony alongside the senior management team. Each child received toys and thoughtful gifts, creating moments of pure joy and gratitude. The GHR team also donated essential items, including a refrigerator and a medical cabinet, to support Prithipura Communities in their invaluable work of caring for these children.
As part of the day’s celebration, GHR sponsored and funded all meals for the children, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, lovingly prepared by the orphanage team. This gesture ensured the children and staff had nourishing meals throughout the day, complementing the warmth and joy of the event.
The heartfelt connections and shared happiness were evident by the end of the event, with the management of Prithipura Communities inviting GHR to host their Christmas party again next year. This initiative is just one of many CSR projects planned by GHR to uplift communities, support vulnerable groups, and contribute to a brighter future for all. As Sri Lanka’s leading hotel residency developer, GHR is committed to making a meaningful difference not just through real estate but by investing in people, nature, and the community.
